My Students
We have a "rock band" class offered at our school. Students are assigned to small groups, or bands. They choose a style of music to focus on, and they choose songs they are interested in playing. There is a great deal of student leadership that goes on in the class in order for all the individual bands to perform successfully.
Students helping other students learn music, it's so perfect!!!
Some students are come from affluent homes, but some need some help obtaining instruments to learn. This is how you can help!
My Project
We have a very unique class offered at our school "Instrumental Ensemble." Sounds fancy, but it's really just kids putting together their own bands and making their own music with teacher guidance of course! In this class they are learning to play music, "rock band style." They are arranging and writing songs, but one of my favorite parts is that they are learning to work together, doing a great amount of peer teaching and helping each other to be successful. As if playing music wasn't reward enough, the social elements the kids learn are life skills that they can take with them forever!
Learning to play music can be life changing for some students- that's why we need your help getting musical equipment into their hands.
Some kids are new to playing music and they need to have an outlet to get started. The guitar amp, cajon, microphones and cables will be used for students that do not have the means of getting their own instruments. Thanks so much for your help!
