My Students

Our students are ages 4-11, in grades pre-k though 5th. We value education very highly here. The students in our school are thirsty for learning, and come to our school from literally around the neighborhood and around the city, some from around the world. We have a highly diverse population, encompassing students whose families have immigrated from countries such as China, Pakistan, Israel, Russia, Haiti and Trinidad, just to name a few.

As the school's library/media specialist, it is my pleasure to teach every single student in the school.

This gives me the rare opportunity to work with the same students year after year.

My Project

My students need a Dell laptop computer to run our library/media center Smart Board. I am returning to the library this year after 2 years in a classroom. I look forward to jumping back into using our interactive whiteboard for research. Unfortunately, the library now has had a non-working desktop PC connected to the Smart Board. In order to use this wonderful resource, I need to replace the computer ASAP. Using the computer, wireless keyboard and mouse on the Smart Board will allow my students to interactively engage in all subject areas, but especially in literacy. Our library/media program has multiple interactive components, such as quizzes, videos and enrichment activities that will allow the students to get immediate feedback of their progress. We also use the SMART Board to watch videos to enhance our social studies and research units.

A working laptop computer in our library will enable so many possibilities for our learning community, allowing us to use the great interactive technology that a Smart Board brings to our classroom.
