My Students

I want the best for my students. Every day you can find us working to become more mature readers and writers by learning new strategies. I teach an amazing group of kindergarten ELL students. They live in New York City.

In my classroom, I have twenty-five wonderful English language learners who are excited to come to school and are curious each day for what adventures will happen.

My students come from an underprivileged area, where many of them come from uneven upbringings. Although some struggles continue at home, they still come to school everyday with smiles on their faces ready to learn!

My Project

I can't wait to meet my next group of kindergartners, and a fresh start is what we need to get ready for kindergarten. My students need essential materials in order to have a successful classroom environment and maximize their learning. We are always in need of pencils. I have requested jumbo pencils. We will learn to write our names, and write letters and numbers, and by the end of the year we will be able to write sentences. These pencils will benefit kids that are still developing their fine motor skills. My students also need dry eraser markers. We will use them during center time and most importantly during our phonics program. Students will learn to correctly practice writing letters while using their dry erasers markers. We also need an organization chart where we will be able to have our materials stored for safe keeping to be able to use throughout the year.

In addition, our class needs a new calendar for morning meeting.

Morning meeting is where, as a whole group, we learn to be respectful, establish routines, motivate students, and learn about what our day will bring. We will also learn about numbers, days of the week, months of the year and basic addition and subtraction. Every day a student will have a chance to be the calendar leader while the rest of the class follows. The calendar has so much to offer our little ones, and I can't wait to teach them how to use it.

Finally, we need a pop of color for our word wall bulletin board. My little ones will be excited and proud to use the word wall, especially with the new borders I have requested. My students will have a fresh start this school year with many opportunities to help them learn!
