Help me give my students and our school disinfectant spray, individual supplies bags, and social distancing stickers to make our return to face-to-face learning as safe as we possibly can.
Our school is for students with special needs who, because of severe emotional and behavioral issues, have not been able to learn successfully at their regular schools. They learn a little bit differently and are a little more difficult to engage due to their tremendous emotional needs. We work hard to be able to accommodate their differences, correct their behaviors with gentle guidance and keep them in school and in class!
Our school provides a safe place where students can learn from their mistakes in a nurturing environment, develop coping skills that will allow them to be successful in all settings, and master problem-solving strategies while continuing to be exposed to the district-wide academic curriculum.
Our daily goal is to keep our students in the learning environment where they can experience academic success. The ultimate goal is to give them the coping strategies they need to be able to be successful in all area of their lives. We strive to give them the kind of high-quality lessons and activities that will authentically engage them in rigorous learning and enable them to become happy and productive citizens.
My Project
After teaching virtually since the school year start, we are beginning to plan for the return of students and staff to our school building. We have been having several strategy meetings to plan for this event so that we can welcome our staff and students back knowing that we have done everything possible to make it a safe return. These individual supply bags will be given to each student in the building to keep their classroom supplies in as there will be no more sharing of supplies this year. The disinfectant spray will be used by teachers and other staff to keep surfaces germ free and the stickers will be placed down all the hallway floors to remind everyone to stay socially distanced at 6 feet apart.
Keeping everyone at our school safe is clearly our top priority and these supplies are going to greatly help us to accomplish that goal.
Although we are currently still distance teaching, we are in the process of planning for the return to face-to-face learning and are endeavoring to leave no stone unturned to make sure our students and staff are able to feel confidently safe in our school.
