We are a successful small school in a small, rural farming community in Indiana. The staff in our building work every day to create an educationally rich environment that pushes each one of our students as individuals. We focus on small group learning and/or individualized learning.
Our students are excited, creative and fully engaged in the learning process.
They want to grow and learn more about the world around them. The students come from a variety of backgrounds and home environments but they are always striving to reach their full potential as future community leaders.
My Project
Every year, I try to add something fun and interesting to my classroom. I think about the class I had and think about what I know about my incoming students. With that information in mind, I come up with a few items I need to add to my classroom to not only increase learning but also excitement, engagement, and fun for the students.
Making each year new and exciting is important not only for my incoming students but also for me!
These materials will allow me to do just that. The pillows will be our new seating option and provide comfort while learning. The other materials are classroom supplies that we use many times throughout our day and will help supply our room when our beginning of the year supplies run short. The fidgets, while they may just look like toys, will actually be an integral part of our Calming Station--or an area where my students are free to go when they just need a minute to relax, deescalate, and/or find their self-control. While these materials may seem like an odd mix, I promise you, I have carefully selected them and know they are very important to our everyday learning.
