This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students come from diverse backgrounds and are from low income families. I am lucky to be working with a group of students who are eager and motivated to do their best. Their eagerness motivates me to find new ways to improve instruction.

My students come to me reading at many different levels.

In order for my students to do well, I need to have books at their levels. I am a second grade teacher on the south side of Chicago.

In order to help my students become successful and enthusiastic readers, I need to provide books at every reading level. These leveled books will allow my students to read independently, at their own reading levels, and thus improve their reading. Also, by reading at their own levels my students will experience success and in turn build confidence as readers. These books will have a positive impact on the education of my students. They will also help my students enjoy reading.
