Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My kindergarten students are a bright and lively bunch! They love to sing, dance, have fun and learn. My students are extremely energetic and I enjoy the challenge of keeping up with them.

Kindergarteners at KES love taking ownership of their learning by using interactive notebooks.

They also feel in charge of their learning by suggesting topics to research or study. Students especially love learning when there are songs or art projects to go with the topics they are studying. They are truly an energetic and enthusiastic group.

My Project

Get Your Teach On is an amazing conference that focuses on increasing student engagement. It inspires and empowers teachers to create magic in their classrooms through fun and exciting lessons.

With the knowledge gained at GYTO I plan on challenging myself as well as my teammates, by ensuring that each lesson is truly engaging.

I want to learn to add music and art to each lesson, because as we know when we involve the senses students retain more. Music, dance and art also will help address all the different types of learning modalities.

Room transformations can be a powerful learning experience and a very memorable one. At GYTO I hope to experience and learn about room transformations. I have seen on social media student’s reactions to their classroom being transformed into Jurassic Park for a science lesson. Or a dimension in space and time for a math lesson. An experience I want to give my students for many years to come.
