Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am so excited to begin this new journey as a classroom teacher. I have been in education for 17 years, left the last 3 years to become an administrator. This year I decided to return to the classroom to have a bigger impact on my students.

We are middle school students in North Carolina with a high poverty rate with 90% of our school receiving free and reduced lunch.

My passion for education and what I do is inspired by the students I am able to reach.

My Project

The books will be used in my math library. Students will be able to choose a book to read in class or check out. Some books will be used for shared reading to help introduce math topics. Students in my class will be able to get LIT for reading while learning math. Have a math library will show students the importance of reading across the curriculum. The opportunity to have a math class library will also help students build vocabulary, help them solve problems, and become confident in reading. Books in the our math class will make an impact in my students math experience.
