Active learning through inquiry-based investigations is critical to understanding science. What better way to explore Newton's Laws than by witnessing them in action? This Donor's Choose project aims to provide sixth-grade students with Hot Wheels tracks and cars to investigate the relationships between force, mass, acceleration, and concepts like friction, inertia, and gravity. Equipped with a digital scale to measure mass, students will use whiteboards to brainstorm investigations and record their findings. Through inquiry-based learning, students will ask questions, construct explanations, conduct investigations, and argue based on evidence. They will discover critical cause-and-effect relationships and develop positive associations with science. Through collaborative inquiry, students will uncover how the laws of physics influence the toys they love, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of scientific principles. This hands-on approach will not only enhance their grasp of physics but also inspire a lifelong curiosity and love for learning.
