This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We only have 30 minutes of music and when we play instruments most of the class period students are waiting in line to play our Orff instruments. Our students have great potential in music if they are given a chance to play.
It is a joy seeing students play mallet instruments for the first time.
Music becomes real to these students when they get to hold the mallets and play songs that are familiar to them. Most of my students have never even been around any type of instrument and to bring these instruments into the classroom would be a huge boost to our music program.
My Project
We are asking for two soprano metallophones and two sets of mallets. Currently we have one alto metallophone and we do not have the mallets to play these instruments. Music would mean a lot more to my students if they could experience it hands on and not just sitting in a row waiting to play.
I would like all of my students to have an enjoyable music experience, one in which they actively participate and take part.
Adding two new instruments to our repertoire would improve the participation level of all of my music students.
