Getting Hooked on Chapter Books: Super Series Supply

My students need the Iris and Walter series as well as the Geronimo Stilton series to get hooked on chapter books and connect to these wonderful characters across books.

My Students

Making connections to characters in books is an exciting and wonderful experience for young readers. When developing readers can join fantastic and engaging characters, such as Iris and Walter and Geronimo Stilton and his friends, across multiple books, they get hooked on chapter books!

I teach all subjects to a diverse second grade class at a high performing school.

Learners in my classroom range from emergent to gifted and all levels in between. I teach literacy using the Reading and Writing Workshop approach from Teacher's College at Columbia University. My students are enthusiastic and work very hard.

My Project

Have you ever been so involved in a book that you couldn't put it down? Have you ever wished that there was a sequel to the great book you just read? Please provide the growing readers in my classroom with the opportunities to follow characters through multiple adventures in these fun and engaging chapter book series. Please allow children to enter the world of chapter books with the endearing friendship and kindness between Iris and Walter as they tackle sticky situations. Help fluent readers continue to enjoy chapter books with Geronimo Stilton and his friends as they embark together on many whimsical and fun adventures! By tracking these characters through a series of books, my students will develop a deeper understanding of how characters change, be able to predict their actions, make inferences, make connections and deepen their comprehension. Their discussions about the characters across stories will be rich and interesting and they will look forward to the next story!

Reading is critical.

Enjoying reading is critical to being a great reader. Getting hooked on a series of chapter books with characters like Iris, Walter and Geronimo make reading fun and engaging and enables students to deepen their comprehension skills. Students will also engage in rich and meaningful conversations about the characters in the books as they tackle new situations in each story. Please help my students get hooked on chapter books!!
