Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are wonderful. They are excited to learn and be successful in school. They love to sing and do crazy dances when their brains need a break.
They are curious, sweet and funny children.
This is most of their first times in school so I want to show them how fun learning can be.
My Project
My students need to see reading as interesting, exciting and cool! So we need some interesting, exciting and cool books to help show them that.
I'm hoping to provide them books that spark their curiosity, increase their desire to learn and most importantly, get them excited about reading.
I chose tried and true classic books that I will read aloud then put in our classroom library for them to look at on their own. They love choosing books that I've read aloud to the class! I also choose informational texts with subjects I know my students are interested in that will be organized and accessible in the library.
Finally, we have been talking a lot about Social-Emotional Learning and I chose a book set that touches on different SEL topics. This week, we will be starting a special SEL instruction time where we read, learn and share ideas.
