I teach 30 third grade students in a gifted and talented classroom setting. My students come from families who are new to the country. Some of my students require special services. My students come from varied backgrounds with different economic needs. My students are very bright and they seek enrichment activities.
They like to move, they love to read, and they love lots of positive attention.
Many of them are being raised in single parent households and receive a free lunch based on their socioeconomic status.
My students are creative, clever, and very spontaneous.
My Project
I want to empower my students to help others while getting physically fit. and making a healthy choice to exercise daily. My class is filled with gifted children who are eager to help others. They LOVE to sing and dance while they learn. I often try to incorporate music into all subject areas as much as possible. They really enjoy singing along to common songs they know and love to help them learn their multiplication facts. My new goal is to include brain breaks each day when my students can sing and dance to get their extra energy out and help them refocus.
Help my student end child hunger with the UNICEF Kid Power Band!
The UNICEF Kid Power Band is a fitness band that tracks both steps and movement. This activity unlocks therapeutic food packets that UNICEF delivers to severely malnourished children.
