My Students

As an International Baccalaureate World School, we want students to be inquirers, and be curious about the world around them. We are an urban school with socio-economic and cultural diversity. Our students and teachers are a diverse group, each bringing unique strengths to our educational program. The mission of our school is to develop lifelong learners and globally-minded citizens by fostering the academic, creative, and social skills needed to achieve excellence in a multicultural environment.

"One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind." Neil Armstrong believed that WONDER is the basis for man's desire to understand.

I want to help foster that desire to wonder. Many of our students have not had access to various tools to use and explore scientific topics.

My Project

Elementary students are building a foundation for future learning. What would be better than to have up-to-date models of our earth and moon? Electricity, magnetism, and weather are topics covered in the grades 1 - 5. We need cool tools in our library to spark the desire for more learning.

Having real world models and tools available to touch and use will entice children to want to learn more about them.

Most students are familiar with a globe - but we need one that is up to date. Few, if any students have seen a moon globe! What a better way to explore, than to see it up close! The Galileo Thermometer and the Magnet Field Tube will help "attract" more students to exploring these topics. Students (and adults) will be electrified with the Plasma Globes.
