Getting Creative with Writing and Texts

My students need post-it's, scissors, and cardstock for creative projects, collaborative writing, and interactive notebooks.

My Students

My classroom is place where I encourage reading. I want students to be life-long learners, and I believe reading is the way to ignite this process. My juniors will end the year with a college application project, and this text will connect right with it.

My students are juniors and seniors.

We live in a high poverty area where a large portion of our student body k-12 is on free or reduced lunch. By the time students reach me, many of them have jobs or are caring for younger siblings. Many of my students are curious about the choices that will be made in their last two years of high school; they often come to me for guidance and direction on the choices they face. They are information hungry when it comes to their futures.

My Project

These materials will allow my students to create interactive notebooks for informational and literature texts. In addition the post-its will help with collaborative writing. I use them for students to leave messages for each other about their writing and for pre-writing and sharing ideas.

These are supplies that my students are quickly running out of this year.

We need to replenish our supplies. I also would love to have enough scissors, so my students don't have to share; this allows us to move quicker through lessons.
