Help me give my students the experience to create with clay! Students will have the opportunity to create various ceramic pieces and glaze their creations.
Our school is a specialty school for the visual and performing arts. From the very beginning of their education, students explore various arts areas including, visual art, dance, theater, and general music. They start to dive into a specific art area the 1st semester of 4th grade and by their 2nd semester of 4th grade they must pick an art major to audition for in 6th grade. Students have a rigorous arts curriculum throughout middle school.
My 4th - 8th grade students are extremely creative, talented and passionate about visual arts.
They love working with clay but our budget cannot cover the cost of materials that are needed to make successful ceramic pieces. The clay, tools and glaze sets will help students create various sculptures and vessels.
Working with clay helps improve eye/hand coordination and builds fine motor skills. It helps to strengthen the small muscles in hands, fingers and wrists. Clay helps students to conceptualize objects in a three dimensional space. It's a medium that promotes creativity and encourages self-expression.
