Getting Cozy and Comfy to Learn Our A,B,C's and 1,2,3's

Help me give my students the flexibility to increase their learning by choosing the area they want to sit. The Lakeshore Comfy Round Carpet and the Portable Lap Desks will help us choose in our classroom.

My Project

Kindergarten is the year students are expected to make the most significant progress in learning their ABC's and 123's, and the best way to accomplish that is by having students practice as much as possible! The problem? Only sitting at a table or sitting on the floor is not very appealing!

At our school, my students' favorite time of day is free centers.

Why? They not only love getting to choose what they want to do, but they get to move around. So, I want to give my students the opportunity to be more flexible by being able to sit in different types of seating when they either doing centers or independent work. This will give them the independence and comfort to learn like they need. When we do work on the clipboards the big round rug will be used as small and large group learing. But, my class will be able to also use the small round rug, the student lap top tables and round pillows to help with doing their work and/or centers. In our room I also have a few other tables to work on, but, adding these items to our classroom will give more flexibility for the students to help increase their attention, movement and learning.

A classroom should be a welcoming place where students are comfortable enough to put all their attention towards learning. My students often avoid tasks that require a lot of sitting still. With your help, I will be able to transform our classroom into the most inviting learning environment. So by providing a comfy seating options I will be able to watch what I love- learning while having fun! With this kind of environment my students will be able to soar in their learning.
