Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I will be teaching 25 awesome fourth-grade diverse learning students in a great school. Our neighborhood school is located in southwest Chicago, in a working-class community. The majority of my students come from minority families, who at the present time are struggling financially.

My group of children is a happy and friendly bunch who are eager to come to school and learn.

For many of my students, they have always shied away from reading and or writing, knowing it was an area of weakness for them. My plan is to make an area where reading and writing are not only part of the curriculum but also fun and comfortable. I plan on using the Big Joe Chairs as the seating for the built-in desk in my room. In that area, students can use the crayon sharpener to sharpen crayons as they draw pictures to match their writing. The organizer will house writing paper, pencils, and of course, each individual students' writing folder. The wire organizer thumbs will be used in the charging port, that I am creating, for the students' Chromebooks. This way no one's wires get tangled up. As for the pillows, those will be used in the library, where students get comfortable on the rug and read. Finally, the doorbell will be used to get their attention as needed.
