Getting Comfy in the Classroom to Learn to Love Reading!

Help me give my students cold water and healthy snack choices such as yogurt and fruit by having a refrigerator to store these items. Flexible seating will allow students to read comfortably to foster a love for reading.

My Project

As a second grade teacher, it is important to foster a love for reading in students. However, this is only accomplished by having a classroom environment in which students feel comfortable and confident.

Having a healthy snack options that can be kept cool in a refrigerator will ensure that the child’s basic needs are being met.

Once students are fed and ready to learn, they should feel comfortable in the classroom. This is why I chose the seating options that I did for my project.

At least half of the students in my classroom come from low-income families which means they may never experience an environment in which they have choices. To provide an enjoyable experience as students choose a book to sit down and read with their cool snack in their flexible seating choice, I chose to add a rotating bookshelf.

These items all will impact my students in a positive way in which they may never get to experience outside of my classroom due to living in a low-income area. I would love to be able to provide these items to my students with the help of generous donors like you.
