This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My school is a Title I elementary school in Tempe, Arizona with over 85% of our students qualifying for government assistance. Much of the student population struggle with challenges that are generational. Some of these challenges include limited access to technology at home, lack of transportation, and have few basic school supplies to be successful. A good majority of our students come from a home where two languages are spoken.
Despite the daily struggles, every child comes to school with the motivation to learn.
In Kindergarten, our learning is very hands-on and filled with engaging activities. A kindergartner's day is typically very long and this can sometimes cause restlessness and inattentiveness. It is my hope to provide opportunities for my students to learn in the most comfortable environment.
My Project
Kindergarten students work best when they have choices. Providing flexible seating options for kids to choose from give them the opportunity to make good choices for their own learning .
By incorporating comfy floor seats and clip boards into our flexible seating options, students will have the ability to relax while they complete their work.
The clip boards will provide a stable surface to work while either sitting, laying or walking around.
The trampoline will provide an opportunity for the kids to get the wiggles out when needed so they can continue to focus on the learning throughout the day. These items will enhance our classroom learning and environment.
