My Project
Student achievement has plummeted since the pandemic, and teachers are working hard to fill in gaps. In my class, not unlike the rest of the country, kids' literacy scores are the biggest concern. In my classroom, I am trying to get kids excited about reading grade-level text and one component of this is to re-create our class library. These resources will help build our classroom library: the physical space, the student-preferred text, and the organization for ease of access. Specific series and items have been selected based on what my kids have been asking for.
The book bins, shelves, and bookcases will hold books so the library can be set up in an organized, leveled way.
This means that kids can easily go to their bin (located on a shelf) and browse interesting text at their reading level. Floating shelves will showcase front-facing books to inspire new interest in the series or subject matter.
