This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My Pre-K students love coming to school to learn and play with their friends. They think our classroom is perfect. They don't see that if we had a few extra materials, we would be able to do so many more things.
They are happy with what we have, but I want to give them more.
We are the only Pre-K class at our school and my students are a great bunch of kids. They are just starting out and they are so excited to come to school every day.
As their teacher, I try to maintain that excitement so that they will always love coming to school. Most of them come from very low-income homes and have never been in school before entering my class.
My Project
My school's neighborhood was directly impacted by Hurricane Irma. Many of my students were without power for at least a week. It was a huge disruption to their normal lives. At such a young age it is very hard for them to understand what is going on and why things happen. Our school's playground and field have still not been fully restored.
I am hoping that these materials will help my students feel like things are finally going back to normal after Hurricane Irma.
It will give my students more things to play with so they don't feel so bad about our playground.
