"Knock knock." "Who's there?" "Orange. I mean banana. No, orange." "Orange who?" "Wait, no, it was banana!" Second-grade students make me laugh all day long. They laugh at silly jokes. They sing silly songs with me. They only minimally roll their eyes when I solve a math equation wrong accidentally on purpose.
Second Grade is a melting pot of backgrounds, learning exposure, and abilities (academic, language, and social).
The range of levels is incredible. Being able to differentiate for each student is key for a second-grade teacher. Having the right tools makes this possible.
My Project
Many of my students are well below where they should be academically right now. Many of them spent 1.5 years online and are struggling to get back on track. The iPad will help me utilize aides and other helpers to keep track of the progress my students are making. It will also allow me to customize learning for those lower students and higher students that need a little extra.
My students deserve a clean and organized environment as they tackle the difficulties of learning during a pandemic.
I have 56 students who switch half way through the day. I need to keep our classroom extra organized and clean in order to keep the germs at bay. Many of these items will allow students to not have to share items, thus helping keep them in school instead of home sick.
