My Students

I teach biology and physiology in a suburban neighborhood. My classes are populated by college-bound students who are engaged, community-minded, energetic, and creative. I have taught for thirty years and honestly, still, feel excited to go to school every day because of the energy and enthusiasm they bring. My students are motivated and excited to learn; however, the school, classrooms, and technology are in need of updating.

I teach in a windowless, concrete classroom built in 1974.

Our school is bursting at the seams with fifteen hundred students on a campus designed to house about twelve hundred students. The buildings and furniture are dated and more institutional than inspiring. While my students are bright and future-focused, their daily surroundings make it difficult to envision a career in the modern world. New technology is a way for us to imagine and engage in what is truly possible.

My Project

This Dell Inspiron laptop will be used to present slides in class. Students will benefit from the advanced technology and my ability to better organize lessons and presentations. When students present in class, they will be able to run their projects from this computer.

Technology changes so quickly and it is important to keep up with those changes.

Being able to run current applications and explore new avenues for learning, in the classroom and on the internet, is essential to help my students and myself stay relevant in an ever changing world.
