Our class is excited to return to a regular classroom day after more than a year of crisis distance learning and shorter hybrid schooldays. We have high hopes this year will bring the best of what we've missed from on-campus school with a fresh start in a new grade!
Because of the pandemic, we've gained a great many new skills for working digitally and independently, as well as practicing life skills that will help us face future challenges.
Finally, we get to bring these new ways of thinking and working back to a full in-person classroom!
My Project
After our pandemic emphasis on keyboards and screens, students need to build manual stamina and skill in writing now that we are returning to a regular classroom setting.
Students haven't had the same demands for handwriting during crisis distance learning and the hybrid return that they will have during a regular six-hour day at school.
Their manual skill and stamina for writing must be rebuilt to ensure that physical discomfort doesn't hamper their performance in the many and varied handwriting tasks required across the subject areas.
These pencil grips, enough for all students to keep one in their desk, and one in their backpack for working on assignments at home, will ensure students practice the proper way to hold a pencil, to minimize fatigue from writing and support legible penmanship. Quality wood hex pencils that sharpen well and last, and can't roll away to fall on the floor and break the lead inside, will make writing tasks less frustrating and more pleasurable. Let's get writing!
