My Students
I teach second grade in a low-income school in Greenville County. My 19 students come from a variety of socioeconomic backgrounds and they represent a wide array of learning styles.
We are working together to become not only better students, but successful and productive members of society.
My students have the biggest hearts and minds for learning, and they love all things hands-on!
It is absolutely impossible to spend a day in our classroom without receiving at least 19 hugs.
My Project
In our current public education climate, it can be easy for teachers to lose sight of their passion for student learning and engagement. I have been intentionally seeking out fellow educators who encourage creativity in the classroom, and one of the things I keep seeing are clips and tidbits of information from this conference! My goal is to cultivate a classroom environment that promotes mindfulness, diversity, and inclusion while keeping students engaged with authentic learning experiences.
Attending the Get Your Teach On conference will reinforce my belief that teaching is more than just data and that student engagement and enjoyment are things that can be achieved in the classroom, daily!
Many of my teacher "heroes" have attended this conference, and two of them are presenting this year! I have loved following their journeys on their blogs and social media accounts, but witnessing first-hand their passion for teaching would be an amazing opportunity.
