Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our students are bright, energetic, inner-city children that deserve the same educational opportunities as students in suburban districts that surround the Philadelphia experience.
Our children live in an impoverished, crime-ridden neighborhood, known throughout Philadelphia, for drug activity and violence.
Our rather large K-4 school has become the center of our children's neighborhood. Our school is a place where the children are safe, loved, and most importantly educated.
My Project
Returning to school face-to-face will bring many challenges, especially since the majority of my students were in the middle of 2nd grade when the pandemic forced our schools to shut down. With that in mind, I am developing a program that will incorporate music and song to actively engage my students in our daily lessons.
Flocabulary is a learning program for all grades that uses educational hip-hop music to engage students and increase achievement across the curriculum.
It is my belief that this incredible online resource will enhance my students understanding of content topics through music.
