"4th Grade scientists, it's time to put on your lab coats! Join us at the STEAM rug and let's dive into science learning!" This is the phrase that I want to be able to tell my 4th graders at the beginning of each day. First, we'll begin by meeting together at the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) themed rug where we'll find a spot to sit and discuss the day's science question. Then we'll form our scientist research groups, pick up our safety goggles, and get ready for science in action! With lab coats, safety goggles, and a rug, our room will be transformed into a science space!

Imagine 4th grade scientists peering over microscopes, all wearing lab coats that have pockets for pencils and supplies. They will be safe with safety goggles to protect their eyes from stray projectiles or water splashes. The lab coats will keep 4th graders' school clothes clean. In the center of the room, a brightly colored science rug will proudly announce to every visitor that this classroom is a science lab. Words like: technology, energy, engineering, art, mathematics, pulley, machines, circuits, and more are printed on the rug. The rug will be a place for us to talk as a community as a gathering space.
