This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Thank you for considering this proposal! I am the teacher of 22 wonderful 1st Grade students at San Pedro St. Elementary School. The school is located in downtown Los Angeles, near the Garment District. It is a 4-Track K through 5 school. Our enrollment consists of 720 students, where 93.5% are English Language Learners and 100% are socio-economically disadvantaged.

As part of our creative art curriculum we perform many activities where cutting is involved. Sadly, the scissors that our school provides for our students, do not really cut. Cutting becomes a frustrating task for many of my students.

As part of my proposal I am asking you to help me get my students good scissors that they can use to cut and that could also be inherited to future classes. I found these Lakeshore scissors that have an easy-grip plastic handles and high-quality, stainless steel blades that make cutting a breeze for both righties and lefties. They come in a handy caddy that keeps them organized. I am also including in this proposal glue sticks and kids' craft scissors which would let children create scallops, ripples, waves and more, plus they also come in a handy caddy.

Your help will make it possible for my students to have this wonderful resource at their hands to enhance their "cutting" experience during Arts Time.
