My students need organizational supplies to start positive habits in 8th grade so they're ready for high school and ultimately college! They need a document camera, projector, folders, trays, highlighters, speakers, timers, etc.
Our students are incredibly hardworking and strive to meet every challenge we throw their way. Last year they constantly aimed to be the best version of themselves and I'm looking forward to seeing them grow even more this year when I move up to 8th grade with them!
Last year our students focused on taking control of their learning and accepting and managing lots of responsibility.
They excelled at their classroom jobs, creating projects (which they presented to the class), presenting at an award ceremony, putting on a play, celebrating black history through a dance, singing, and poetry presentation for all to see, and so so much more!
My Project
These materials would help push our students to the next level. This year we're really focusing on getting our students' reading up to grade level. We're finding that many of them struggle with organization. Many students waste time in class searching for specific papers because they don't have organizational supplies, and they're missing out on learning time.
We know that these tools will help them to become more organized which will help them to focus on their learning and use every moment towards their academics.
If our students spend 3 minutes every class looking for papers, that's 540 minutes a school year or 9 hours of learning time. We're aiming to not only set them up with a good habit for high school, but to also give them more time to learn.
Most materials we're asking for focus on classroom and student organization. The binders we're requesting are so each student has a binder for the year which will allow them to stay organized in each class and throughout the year. We're requesting a document camera and projector to help with close reading and learning to annotate which will set them up for success in high school but especially college. Finally, all other items such as folders, document trays, highlighters, speakers, lapboards, timers, etc. are for our students to use on a daily basis. These materials would make a difference in our students' lives and ours every single day. Thank you for considering us!
