My students need this book organizer so that they have easy access to a variety of good literature. They need to be able to find books at their level at a glance.

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
When you walk into a bookstore, which books appeal to your imagination and interest? The ones with their spines facing out? Or the ones with the covers popping out at you? My students need a book organizer in order to see the covers of books, the artwork of the illustrators, and the books' titles in big font.
My students come from various parts of the world and are learning Academic English with great enthusiasm.
They are loquacious, inquisitive, and lovers of books! Their families cannot afford to provide them with many books at home, but they are anxious for them to learn as much English as possible.
Our students attend a small, urban, well-loved public elementary school that has been in this community for many, many years. Students come from many parts of the city to attend this bilingual school that has a vision of graduating students who are resilient and culturally-aware, life-long learners.
My Project
Most of my students are English Language Learners. Many of their parents do not read English, so my students are not read to in English except in school and they do not have easy access to books in English. We have some sets of books thanks to donors like you, but we need shelving to display the books. My students need to be able to see the covers of the books and easily handle the books, so that they can pick books at the appropriate level. Reading will expand their vocabulary and improve their comprehension skills. It will open up their world! Your donation can help provide needy students with many rewarding hours of reading fun.
With your donations, our class library will have a beautiful, brand new organizer to help my students find books. My students can borrow books from our classroom library conveniently, take them home, or read them in class. Research has shown that having the right books accessible has a tremendous impact on a student's desire to read and a student's lifetime love of reading.
Your donation to this project will help my classroom be more organized.
It will help my students, especially reluctant readers, find books that appeal to them. They will be able to quickly see the title and the cover, read the blurb on the back, and decide to read the book. They will be checking out more books from the classroom library to read at home as well as at school.
The more reading they do, the better their skills will become at reading higher-level literature. They will become life-long readers.
