Students in my 5th grade classroom will develop a love for traditional board games that they can enjoy at recess time.
During indoor recess when the weather is unfavorable, students will have the opportunity to engage in play with traditional board games such as Yahtzee, Monopoly, and Clue!
There’s more to it than just fun, though. Board games offer countless benefits, especially for children. As we take turns, cooperate, and follow the rules, kids learn valuable social skills like patience and communication. These skills are foundational for relationships, both in childhood and later in life. But, it doesn’t stop there. Games also enhance cognitive functions like problem-solving, decision-making, and strategic thinking. Children learn to plan ahead, assess risks, and sometimes even think outside the box—all important skills for personal growth and development.
