My Students
My students are 7 and 8 year olds who need to wiggle. Every year we put more demands on our children academically, and it can be difficult for some children to sit still and do all that is asked of them.
We are a fairly small school in a rural town.
We have only two classes per grade. Our class sizes are growing, and we seem to have less funds for supplies. Our classrooms are all small learning communities which carry over into the larger school setting. Being in school is often the one place where many of our children have to socialize with other children and to be part of a group other than in their own family.
My Project
Every child has his or her own learning style-visual, auditory, and kinesthetic. Some children just get restless during the long school day. These four Hokki Stools will help some of my more active learners. They will be part of our classroom and available for all students. Students will be able to use them in small groups or individually throughout the day to help them focus and get their work done.
As the new school year begins, children go from being able to run and play all day to sitting for most of the day.
This is more difficult for some than for others. These four Hokki Stools will help those students who just need to wiggle. These chairs will let students know that we respect all learners.
