My students need a basic honey bee starter kit to learn about the life cycle of the honey bee and it's impact on our local economy.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. S.'s classroom raised $397

My Students
After learning about how bees pollinate and the impact they have on the economy, our class decided this would be a great way to demonstrate how valuable bees are to us. We have also learned about the decline in the bee population and how devastating it could be to us in the future.
My students attend a public school in the Midwest and come from various backgrounds.
We have a large Native American population as well as several families with low income. The students love hands-on science activities and learn best through active demonstration.
My Project
With these resources, I can help my students understand the impact bees have on our daily lives. Students will research bees, play bee games, and explore the outdoors in search of bees. Students will learn what nectar, pollen, and honey are; where they come from; and how bees and flowers share a mutually beneficial relationship. The class will learn about the honey bee society, and the role of the queen bee, the worker bee, and the drone. Hive construction will be explored and students will learn the various bee dances as forms of communication. As a conclusion to this project, we will develop a plan of action to help save the bee population in our state.
Your donation will broaden the knowledge students have on bees and help to educate students on the complex social system and economic impact bees have on our society.
Students are more engaged in the learning process when they can be involved with hands-on activities.
