The one thing my diverse juniors and seniors all have in common is that they all hope to attend college! While some of my students are college-ready, though, others have lots of skill-building to do before they are ready to succeed at the college level.
We will help them all get there!

My Project
The 12 students in my college prep English class don't see themselves as readers yet and they spend way too much time staring at screens.
I want to re-ignite my students' excitement about reading with Elizabeth Acevedo's award-winning novel "A Poet X." Like Xiomara, the book's protagonist, many of my students are trying to figure out who they want to be and how they can shape their worlds.
We will read this novel-in-verse together and build on the form and content to explore issues of language, race, culture, and identity.
