Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We are a Title I school, meaning majority of our students are coming from a low Socio-Economic Status and receive free or reduced
price lunch.
We have over 900 students at our school. Some of our students are new to the country and might not have ever been in a school setting and for some it could be their first time being exposed to technology. We are a STEM designated school and need help with exposing students to more of the technology and and add the art component to be a STEAM school. I am the math, science, and social studies teacher.
My morning class consists of 23 students that have been identified as gifted and consistently need to be challenged. My afternoon class is of mixed ability and hase 10 students that are ESOL level 1. Many have been in the country for less than a year. There are a few that do not even speak the English language. However, between both groups I can see they are all excited and wanting to learn and succeed.
My Project
Our school has earned the Gold designation for being a STEM school. As I know the importance of the components of being a STEM school, I would like to continue
The tablets will allow the students more access to technology.
Students will be able to use the tablets for research and complete different activities using QR codes. The ink will allow students to create art using computers and tablets and printing their work for display. The art supplies will allow us to incorporate more art activities. All the tools and materials will significantly help my students to continuously be a STEM designated school.
