My Students

I will have the opportunity to be working with 4th graders this year! This will be my first year teaching and I am so excited to teach my first set of students! My students will be ready to learn everyday with lots of energy. I will be providing hands on and engaging activities for my students to learn and participate in! During my first year of teaching, I will also be going through a master's accelerated program and will only get about half a teacher's salary. I need help in obtaining different types of seating in my classroom.

In order for my students to be engaged throughout the whole school day, they will need choice.

This school is a Title 1 building with over half the students coming from low income households. It is so important that my students are learning the best they can while they are at school. With flexible seating options such as floor cushions, wobble chairs, and exercise balls they will be able to learn where they feel most comfortable.

My Project

Flexible seating will enhance engagement and learning because my students will be able to choose where they would like to sit instead of sitting at a desk all day. Students need to be able to move as much as we like to move throughout the day. Sitting in a desk for hours on end can be exhausting and frustrating for my students.

In my classroom, I will allow my students to have choice in where they will sit.

For example, students will be able to choose from a regular chair, wobble chair, floor cushion, and exercise balls. Throughout the year students can change their seating choice if they choose to do so.
