This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are very underprivileged in a high poverty community. Most students are living in apartments and with multiple families. My students do not enjoy many of the school supplies and resources as students in more affluent areas. Yet, without fail students are smiling, and have an authentic desire to learn.

My students are professionals in training!

Many of my students feel as though they do not have choices for their future. I want to instill in them the idea that anything is possible! It is my goal for my students to have a career that makes them happy and that enables them to be self sufficient.

My Project

I have purchased a classroom rug for my students for years. These need to be replaced each year due to wear and tear from the "economic" rugs I am able to provide. I am looking for a Lakeshore Alphabet Activity Classroom Carpet 9'12' that will last many years!

During the school year 2018-2019, I will be instructing my Kindergarten and 1st Grade ESOL students concentrating in the area of WRITING.

These students NEED a comfortable space to gather during the mini lesson, viewing writing models for instruction, and for listening to students' completed writing for enjoyment and higher level critiques.
