My Project
As a first grade teacher, I know how crucial the first few days of school are in setting the stage for a successful and joyful year. This project aims to provide each of my incoming first graders with a special welcome package to ease their anxieties and spark their enthusiasm for learning.
Each student will receive a bundle that includes the following items:
The Night Before First Grade - A delightful book that shares the story of a child’s feelings and adventures as they prepare for the first day of school. This will help students connect with their feelings about starting first grade and understand that their excitement and nerves are completely normal.
Jitter Glitter - A magical packet of glitter that students can sprinkle under their pillow the night before school starts. It’s a fun and soothing tradition that helps calm first-day jitters.
Pop Rocks - To add a little "pop" of fun to their first day and get them excited about the adventures to come.
These items will be neatly packaged in Plastic Zipper Envelopes, making them easy to distribute and keeping everything organized.
Additionally, as we embark on our reading journey, I plan to introduce mini bubble gum machine toys as a motivational tool. These fun, interactive toys will be used to reward progress in reading activities and milestones, encouraging our young learners to keep pushing forward with enthusiasm.
This thoughtful welcome sets a tone of care and excitement about learning from day one, helping to build a positive classroom environment where all students feel comfortable, excited, and ready to learn. It also directly supports our reading curriculum by providing incentives and tools that make learning fun and rewarding.
