My Project

I have an AMAZING group of 1st-grade scholars who love to learn in unconventional ways... and I encourage it! They like to sit on the carpet for partner work, they enjoy laying under the kidney table to read books to one another, and they always race to be the first to ask to sit in my rocking chair for independent learning. I'm requesting donations to provide flexible seating options for my scholars to feel comfortable, take ownership of their learning, and feel a sense of belonging in the classroom.

Providing my scholars with flexible seating options will allow them to stay focused and engaged, encourage positive classroom behaviors, and allow them to learn in ways that work best for them!

When my scholars are scattered around the room, working independently or in pairs, they work more confidently because they choose spaces that work best for them. The pillows, stools, and bucket seats on my list will add variety to our learning space. Having flexible seating will help to create a scholar-centered approach to learning and foster their love for learning. It will make learning meaningful, impactful, and fun!
