Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our middle school students love to be active...that is if they are able to find a sport or activity in which they enjoy and love. Luckily, Physical Education and Health are still available in school where students are exposed to a variety of sports and activities to participate in hopes to discover at least one that will motivate them to have fun, exercise and be active now and throughout their whole lives. Many students go on to participate in individual and/or team sports activities and leagues, whereas many just enjoy participating with family and friends. Regardless of what they choose, the exposure to these sports are extremely important for overall physical, mental, and social health.

Many of our students do not have opportunities to become part of a sports team due to the lack of programs in the area, as well as family financial situations.

However, with our Physical Education and Health classes, students will still be able to be active, learn teamwork, and discover benefits to playing sports and participating in physical activities.

My Project

With access to sports equipment and supplies within our new virtual school, students will be able to use these materials at home to practice a wide variety of sport skills and techniques while being active as part of our Physical Education and Health courses. These ball supplies will also be used during in-person activities such as games, tournaments, and skill/technique assessments. These in-person activities will give students the opportunity to play and be active with their peers while learning teamwork and skills. When students use these supplies at home, they will practice required skills and techniques in a variety of sports within our Fitness curriculum. They will also implement these skill and technique developments within our big group, in-person activities. The biggest and most important goal is for students to be active and find a lifetime sport in which they will want to participate and continue to be an overall active and healthy being!
