My Students

I LOVE making math matter for students. Before I began teaching at the middle school level, I taught high school math. It made me so sad to see 15 year olds with zero confidence and zero interest in math. I pushed and pushed until I got them to turn around. One question always lingered - when did you lose your connection with math?

Middle school.

It generally came back to middle school. Right when math started to "get real", many students checked out. My goal each and every day is to make math purposeful for my kids. Our classroom is a safe place for them to ask questions and (hopefully) make some mistakes. We celebrate each other and recognize that hard work makes for progress!

My Project

The "Get Your Teach On" professional development conference is an opportunity to learn from the best of the best in education. This conference will provide countless strategies and resources to increase student engagement and motivation in the classroom, which leads to student success. The conference is lead by some of the best and CURRENT educators from around the country.

Dynamic instruction, dynamic materials, and dynamic lessons lead to student progress, growth and mastery!

These strategies will be instrumental in closing the academic gap many students have experienced in math. I can't wait to learn how to make math even more meaningful and purposeful for my students.
