This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are third graders at an inner city school. They are all English Language Learners.

My students are at an inner city school.

Not all of them are as active as they should be. We don't have any playground climbing equipment for students to play on. Recess balls are limited, they have a few jump ropes but not enough for every student to get one. Needless to say most of the kids are sitting around eating unhealthy snacks.

My Project

This wireless speaker will allow my students to be more active during our Physical Education block. We have a new PE program at school that gets every student up and moving. This new equipment will allow me to teach dance and be able to do this outside where we have more space and not in our classroom where we don't have enough space to move around freely. There are also many PE activities that will be enhanced and more enjoyable with music!

I always try to encourage my students to eat healthy and to be active.

I always bring a healthy snack and I talk to them about about my healthy habits. I am trying to teach them that being active can be fun. Starting good habits now when they are young can make a big difference to their future
