This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I love to have separate reading areas in my class, apart from the main rug. My first graders last year would try to share the beanbag chairs (2-3 kids at a time) with their books in hand. It was adorable but always too crowded. I want to continue to foster their desire to read together and share giggles over picture books with this classroom couch.
This colorful couch would accommodate more students and make the reading corner even more appealing.
It would also encourage independent reading when work is completed and allow for a flexible seating option when students need more space or a break from the group. It is easy to wipe down and inviting with its bright color.
My students are curious, social, kind and hard working! I know they will be so excited to grab a book and head to the improved chill zone with a friend.
