This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

If you don't take care of your body, where are you going to live? Please help my scholars get beyond jumping jacks and push-ups and engage in safe motivating activities that will inspire lifelong health.

Our students in this urban, high poverty district have a multitude of needs, within our school in the largest city in Michigan, well-publicized for being economically distraught.

The students, with an 80% Hispanic and 95% economically disadvantaged population, work hard and want to learn, but struggle with a multitude of health risks. My scholars need to find healthy activities to maintain the ultimate in mental and physical health.

My Project

Football Flagz allow us to play a variety of chase and evasion games safely. With the large scooters, everyone, even my bigger students, can get actively involved. The scooter hockey set will allow us to use teamwork skills while we build strength and endurance. The little ones love obstacle courses, and will love the new ones created with hoop holders. With more and newer equipment in our physical education class, it will be safer for the students, and will allow for a greater percentage of use for the students per class, featuring more participation and less standing around.

- A poem - All young boys and girls in every school community; Should have similar access and the same opportunity; To care for their bodies and work for good health; No matter their housing; No matter their wealth; With low-income and health risks they feel every day; Still our kids want to learn, and my kids want to play; And therefore, I ask, even plead, your donation; We'll receive the materials with huge celebration.
