This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I have three groups of students that rotate through my ELA classroom. Each group has a unique personality and each day that a new story is read or an AR goal is met feels like a celebration of literature. I know that each student has their own needs to be successful. Reading is tough and can be frustrating.

My goal is to make my room a safe and comfortable space for beginner or advanced readers, with tools that can fit each class as needed.

Flexible seating is the my biggest focus. Anything that gives student an option that isn't a standard chair could be just the loop thing that allows them to be their most successful in the classroom. Getting to have ownership of learning is the greatest gift I can give them, even with something as simple as a floor chair.

WhisperPhones, beginner level books, and specialty lined paper benefits any level of reader and supports those that struggle the most without leaving anyone out. Being fair isn't about giving everyone the same tools, being fair is giving everyone the tools that they need to succeed. With these literature and writing tools, my students can get another layer of support in their lifelong journey of learning.
