This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am lucky enough to teach an awesome group of middle school students who are creative, eager, and enthusiastic. They are always interested in learning more about a topic and constantly challenge me to be on my toes. I want to teach my kids the required subject matter, but I also want to teach them to be themselves, have fun learning, and love reading! Thank you for joining us on our journey.
Most of my kids come from homes where parents are struggling to stay afloat.
The unstable economy is hitting them hard and many have trouble putting food on the table. Most of them rely on school to feed their kids breakfast and lunch. As you can imagine, a lot of the time school meals are not very appetizing, nor are they enough to fill the stomachs of growing teenagers!
I would love to be able to give my students some extra healthy snacks to eat then they don't like the school meal, or if they are still hungry.
These crackers, cereal, and granola bars would be a great little pick-me-up for students who are struggling to concentrate on their work when all they can think about is the grumbling in their stomachs. In addition, these snacks could be sent home with kids over the weekend when they might have access to regular meals. Thanks for your consideration and generosity.
