My Project
The students at NE are ready to learn about Computer Science and Programming. Without access to age-appropriate materials, it can be difficult to build excitement in students who are learning these new skills.
We are excited to be purchasing Hummingbird Kits for our third through fifth grade students to use as they begin to explore the world of programming.
Hummingbird Robotics Kits include lights, sensors and motors to assist students in creating robots out of any material. The opportunities are endless when students understand how to program and use these tools! When learning about life science, students can build and manipulate a model of the human arm. While learning about Earth Science, students can build a Rover to explore space objects! When learning about engineering, students can build their own carnival games. By purchasing a kit that is open-ended, it also ensures that many teachers can have access to this technology. Teachers will utilize this on a rotating basis so that all students can learn and experience these valuable skills to promote future-ready learners.
As a component of this kit, teachers are also empowered with classroom tested lesson plans as well as access to free professional development opportunities. This will amplify the experience for students, and create some excitement for teachers to continue to grow and learn in this area.
Please know that by supporting this project, you are launching learning that we know will continue to grow as advancements in technologies happen. We are very excited to be taking this next step as a district and appreciate any support you can give!
