Get Focused On Literacy: Bluford Series & More!

My students need a full set of the Bluford Series books, reading comprehension games, at-my-desk vocabulary activities, and vocabulary games.

My Students

Challenging kids to read more is...well...a challenge! Sadly, many students avoid reading at all costs! My top goal in teaching my fourth graders is to instill a love of learning, especially a love of reading. One of my teachers gave me this gift, and I want to return the favor!

The majority of my students live in poverty.

Don't get me wrong...they have caring families, but living in a rural area with very little industry really has a negative effect on our community. The positive aspects of our community outweigh the negative: we have a small, close-knit school with caring teachers. Our families spend time together. They want their children to learn and be successful.

My Project

I'm requesting a variety of educational games, books, and activities that all focus on literacy. My students absolutely LOVE the daily workstations that I set up. They look forward to them! Having activities available instead of a plethora of worksheets really does motivate my students to work together and have fun. I don't have any of these resources and will put them to good use for years to come!

I have class sets of books that my students wouldn't have read without your help. I don't use boring worksheets unless it's absolutely necessary to assess my students' retention of a skill or concept. I wouldn't be able to do this without resources! Many parents have thanked me for my efforts, but truly the thanks should go to the donors because that's who made it happen! Thanks for considering my project.
