My Students

Many of my students come to class below grade level. They make leaps and bounds academically in one year. It is my job to inspire this love for learning and give them every opportunity I can to help them grow. I try to use a variety of self-made manipulative to facilitate learning. These are a great tool but sometimes making these tools and manipulative ends up being just as costly as buying them. They also do not hold up as well as "the real ones". My students come from working families that value education but do not always have the resources or educational background to provide reinforcement of skills learned at school. The paper and pencil homework and classwork just is not enough. These hands on centers really make a difference and enhance children's learning.

My Project

My students are ready to get in motion. We have come up with a list of materials and ways to help them do just that. My students have made a list of ways they would be motivated to play more and get active at recess. The items they want to eat are healthier than chips and cookies. These fruit snacks and trail mix will give them healthier choices.

Every student is different and has different interest.

I have some students that want to jump rope, play games, draw with chalk. But other students would love to explore the the outdoors around our campus. The items I have requested will allow them to search for, plants, birds, insects and journal about their findings.

The playgroup equipment like sidewalk chalk, hot potatoe, jump ropes and other materials will give the students more options to get them moving during recess. The students are excited to have these resources to use and will motivate them to get active and involved and have fun while exercising.

The students also requested hands on learning materials that they can use to learn the daily skills as they learn in our outdoor lab or as they move around the room in stations. Anyway they can learn and be out of their seat is AWESOME!
